Nile Show News

We have been taking two or three exhibits to shows in 2016, a bit hamstrung by GK's health: Holly throughout the year, Sangria enough to get to Gold Dbl Gr Ch, Gilly until he was neutered and rehomed, and Shirley as soon as she lost the extra weight gained though being on suprelorin. There was a big gap in July-September because of (human) illness.

CCCA Diamond Tpl Gr Ch & Diamond Dbl Gr Ch NILE HOLLY GHOST  Holly, a Tawny daughter of Nat Show Ch, CCCA Tpl Gr Ch & Dmd Dbl Gr Ch Nile Phantom Of Hope and Gr Ch Osiris(V) Sioux City Sue, has averaged two Best Gr 3 awards per 3-ring show, and looks like being R/U to NSW CFA Spay of the year, despite her advancing years and a gap in her show season.

Gold Dbl Gr Ch NILE SANGRIA is a Cinnamon daughter of our Dbl Gr Ch Kemenkat Wind Dancer and Ben White & Wendy Newton's Dbl Gr Ch Kemenkat Razzmatazz. Ria is still under the influence of Suprelorin, because the armpit implant somehow moved, and couldn't be found to remove. She therefore looks very prosperous, and has got lots of top-5 placings. I think that the judges' attitude is, quite correctly "too good to ignore but too fat to put up"! She did, though, manage to get to Gold DGC before being taken off the bench to imit the number of cats being taken to shows.

Ch NILE GILGAMESHthis Tawny son of Michael & Sue Shawn's Dbl Gr Ch Highgaitpaws American Edition and our Ch Abytawe Shirley Bassey did well at shows, with many Best Gr 3 and some Best in Show wins in his brief kitten and cat career. He was neutered at mid-year and found a pet home, but not before siring a litter for Carol Collins. We had kept him for a mating with Ria, but gave up when that became indefinite.

Gr Ch ABYTAWE SHIRLEY BASSEY from CCCA Ch & Gold Gr Ch Nile Argante and Ch Nile Holly Golightly, was bred by Kay Cooper. Shirley was shown just at the end of the year, when her excess weight dissipated after the removal of her Suprelorin. Even so, she managed a Best in Show award and got the points she needed to become a Champion. Shirley has been mated and is in kitten (see Litters).
